Welcome back to all our returning and new wrestlers. This year we should retain our dominance on the mat with all of you executing, sticking to the basics and conditioning. This is a long season so get in shape now. In the next few days I should have the schedule posted as well. Remember that our practices are: Mondays/Thursdays- 3-5pm, small gym... NASHUA YOUTH WRESTLING MINI CAMP

The Nashua B&G Club is hosting a 3 day wrestling mini camp August 19th-21st. For all info please go to http://www.eteamz.com/NashuaBGCGN . This is an excellent opportunity for all of our upcoming wrestlers, last years wrestlers as well as anyone who is new to the sport or is thinking of trying it out. We will conduct all training according to your skill levels. It will focus on conditioning, introductory level basic training, proper techniques and execution, and new moves for all who attend. The camp will run from 9am-3pm all 3 days. Also included is lunch daily, live wrestling, games, and yes even the pool for swimming. (bring your bathing suit, towel). The preseason is approaching fast and this will be the perfect time to refresh your skills and get back into that wrestling state of mind. Hope to see all of you there. THANKS COACH HERB B

OFF SEASON WRESTLING WEEK OF 4/18

This week we will hold practice on Monday only, as Sunday is Easter. We will resume the regular practice schedule the following week. Practice times are Mondays 6:30-8pm, and Sundays 9:30-11am at the Club. Please remember on mondays we are using the same space as the Gate City Club and we need to respect their space, no horseplay will be tolerated at all.

Our next tourney will be the BGS Brawl #5, May 7th. Please sign up at any practice prior to then.

If you have not yet signed up for the Baystate Games (July 8) please do so asap. There is a registration limit, so don't wait. After you register please let me know so I can add you to my roster.

1st Place: Cam Bennett 95 lbs, 3-0

2nd Place: Brian Toupin 113 lbs, 3-1

3rd Place: Thomas Christian 70 lbs, 1-2

OFF SEASON RESULTS- BGS BRAWLS #4

This past weekend the Nashua Youth Off Season Wrestling squad sent 5 wrestlers to Concord for the BGS BRAWLS # 4. They wrestled their hearts out as they all bumped up to higher weight classes to get some tougher competition. Overall the kids proved to be very tough and still managed to come home with the hardware to show for it.

1st Place- Cam Bennett (117 lb), 4-0

1st Place- John Sweeney (134 lb), 3-0

2nd Place- Brian Toupin (117 lb), 2-2

2nd Place- Zack Rioux (78 lb), 2-1

4th Place- Thomas Christian (78 lb)

The off season schedule has changed as far as practices. We will be holding practices until further notice on Mondays 6:30-8pm and Sundays 9:30-11 am both at the Club. Also, as a reminder this will be in conjunction with the Gate City Wrestling Club and horse play will not be tolerated at all. Any issues you will be asked to leave the gym immediately. Remember to sign up at practice for this weeks tourney in Concord at the BGS BRAWL # 4.

The NASHUA OFF SEASON TEAM took part in the Marshwoods New England Classic this past weekend up in Portland Maine. The BGCGN sent 24 wrestlers ranging from k-8th grade. The K-4th grade division did an awesome job in wrestling and sportsmanship.

Coming home with the hardware were:

1st Place- Owen Duda, Zack Rioux, Andrew Lovell.

2nd Place- Matt Kelley, Brody Burke. 3rd Place- Patrick Melanson.

Also putting their best effort in were: Isaiah Johnson, Nathan Zalzal, Anthony Fernandez

In the 5th-8th gr division, taking home the honors were:

1st Place- Brendon Kendall, Ryan Jigarjian

The Nashau Youth Wrestling Team traveled to Londonderry to show off their skills and talent at the MAWA District Tourney. In the end, the Nashua squad finished with all 10 wrestlers qualifying for the upcoming Regionals in PA. Off season wrestling has begun. Practices will be at the club Tuesdays and Fridays 6:30-8:30pm. All registrations will be done at the club on those nights for the upcoming tourneys, all payments will be done at the door the day of the tourney. In order for you to have a coach available you must pre-register at the club, you can not just show up and expect us to be able to help you. Go to the events section and view the future events and plan accordingly. so far we have the following: BGS Brawls (1-5)- BGS School, 123 Portsmouth St. Concord, NH. 8am, $15 (+ USA card). All Brawls are the same info. MAWA District Tourney- Londonderry H/S, Mammoth Rd. Londonderry, NH. 7:30am, $25. Proof af age maybe required. Singlets required. Set weight classes.

ELM ST NEW ENGLAND QUALIFIERS

This past weekend the Elm St Eagles sent 2 wrestlers to Concord, NH to the New England qualifier. Both Cameron Bennett and John Sweeney battled their way through the day and have made it to the New England Tourney March 13th in Lowell, Ma. This will be the 4th year in a row for Bennett and 2nd for Sweeney to attend this Tourney. Sweeney is a defending New England Champion from 2010 and hopes to do it again. Bennett is hoping for his 1st Championship in his final attempt. The Tourney will be at the Lowell H/S on Sunday March 13th. Good luck to both of you. On Sunday March 13th, Elm St will be sending 2 other wrestlers to the New Englands Tourney, but this will be for the ladies. Kirsten Hammond and Olivia Toth will be @ Nashua Catholic for their own Womens New England Tourney. In 2010 both Kirsten and Olivia had great success at this event and came home with 1st and 2nd pace awards. Please try to get there and cheer them on, wrestling will start roughly at 10 am. SCHOOL VACATION WEEK !!!!!! During this week please ensure all wrestlers are conditioning 1 hour per day. With the New Englands and the Derry Rebel Classic coming up, the last thing we need is stale and tired wrestlers for the tourneys. For those of you who will not be doing any of the upcoming events get your singlets in asap. They were collected already and you need to turn them in now !! Remember there is a charge for unreturned items.. The practices will now be held at the club, school practices have ended. Our end of year PIZZA PARTY will be Thursday March 10, @ 5pm, cafe. Please email your RSVP to coach to ensure enough for all. We will have a practice of fun and games from 3-5pm beforehand, in the small gym. There will be awards and certificates handed out, so please be there on time... Notice to all, next weekend are the YOUTH NEW ENGLAND TOURNEYS for both the girls and boys, and the Derry Rebel. MARK THIBAULT CITY CHAMPIONSHIP

Sunday night at the Nashua H/S North 103 Nashua middle school wrestlers faced off for the title of Nahua City Champs 2011. I have never seen so many quality matches, cheering fans and spectators, and even the media covered it as well. This year was a rebuilding year for the EAGLES and through this you guys/girls have proven yourselves once again. You never gave up and even when it was over you volunteered to help clean up. Well most of you did.. In the end hats off to the Pennichuck Raiders who captured the Trophy for 2011. Dont tell them but I never shined or washed it up. We had 17 wrestlers trying to defend their 2010 crown as City Champs and it almost happened. The Eagles came home with 12 wrestlers finish in the top 4. Each one of you that wrestled should be proud of your efforts. It dosent matter if you come in 1st or 8th, each of you contribute somehow along the way. Now did everybody catch the 85 lb consolation finals match? Our own Ben Lugo (Elm St) going at it with Tyler Linscott (Fairgrounds), tied 2-2 after regulation, now on to overtime, oh no another overtime, wait a minute 1 more overtime, come on guys really another one, allright guys how about we flip a coin for the winner, they chose to wrestle a 5th. Ok 3 regulation periods and 5 overtimes to settle this bout. Nice job Ben. This week is our last official week of practice at the Elm St school. Practice will then commence at the club on Tuesdays and Fridays for those who will be continuing on through april. The other M/S kids will be coming there as well to give us some new faces to practice with. I WILL BE COLLECTING ALL SINGLETS ON THURSDAY... PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING THEM IN... any wrestler who continues will be re-issued a singlet at each event and then returned afterwards. The Eagles will be getting ready all week for the upcoming Mark Thibault Tourney, Elm St is the current Champions and will be looking forward to keep the MT Trophy in their school case. ALL wrestlers must be at NORTH HIGH SCHOOL @ 3:30pm Sunday 2/20 for weigh - ins. Any wrestler that does not make it to this event will be asked to turn in their singlet asap. We also will need the wrestlers at North H/S on Sat 2/19 @ 6pm for the set up. This will take roughly 1-2 hours. IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP ON THE VOLUNTEER LIST PLEASE SEE ME ASAP. ELM ST. SENDS 5 TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT

The Eagles wrestling squad sent 5 middle schoolers to Rochester for the MOC Tourney (meet of champions). They came home with 4 medals. All of these guys battled their hearts out and came home with some bumps and bruises to show for their efforts. This past Sunday 9 Elm St wrestlers headed to Londonderry to take part in the NH Regional Tournament. 5 of 9 qualified for the upcoming State Tourney in Rochester this weekend. ELM ST. HOSTS QUAD MEET @ HOME

The Elm St wrestling squad hosted Pennichuck, Fairgrounds, Rundlett Middle Schools for an afternoon of awesome wrestling. In all, there were 63 separate matches and the Eagles had their share of victories. Earning win by pins were: Cam Bennett, Kirsten Hammond, Ben Lugo, David Muite, Olivia Toth, Matt Zucchi. Gaining decsisions were: Eric Gabriel, Olivia Toth, Ian Reed, John Sweeney. Also doing a good job on the mat were: Cico Vargas, Brian Toupin, Josh Barron, Owen McNulty, Ryan Champagne, Alex Almonte. Over-all the team did very well with some obvious very talented teams. The Eagles still have only suffered just 1 loss in Dual Meets for the past 2 years. We are now training to repeat as the Mark Thibault Champions for 2011, to be held on February 20th.

EAGLE WRESTLERS POST WINS

This past week several wrestlers from Elm St traveled and competed in various events. MVC- Chelmsford, posting wins were- Cam Bennett WBP, David Muite Dec, Brian Toupin Dec. Also wrestling were Kirsten Hammond, John Sweeney, Ben Lugo, Ryan Champagne, Josh Barron. MVC- Nashua hosted a quad meet with Dracut, Billerica and Tewksbury. The Nashua squad won both of their bouts against Dracut 57-24, Billerica 46-38. Coming home with wins were, Cam Bennett 2-0, Kirsten Hammond 1-1, David Muite 1-1, Brian Toupin 1-1, John Sweeney 2-0. JV wrestlers also wrestled against all 3 teams and won some of their bouts. Blue Hawk Tourney- 3 wrestlers went to Exeter on Sunday to test their skills in a highly competitive Tourament. Cam Bennett 3-1, 3rd place, David Muite 2-2, 4th place and Brian Toupin 1-2, all wrestled their butts off and came home with some well deserved harware.

This past weekend several Eagle wrestlers traveled to Chelmsford for the Annual Youth Wrestling Tourney. Ben Lugo and Ian Reed came home with medals for their weight classes. Lugo 2nd place- 2-1 and Reed 4th place. Also wrestling this weekend was Cameron Bennett at the Jon Spohn Tourney in Salem. Cameron came home with the 1st place trophy and title. Bennett was 3-0 on the day and only giving up 2 points in his trail. Congratulations to all wrestlers.

NASHUA MVC ELITE TEAM GETS ON TRACK

The Nashua Traveling Team went to Tyngsboro Saturday and faced off against Tyngsboro and Tewksbury. Nashua lost to Tyngsboro 43-36, and was victorious against Tewksbury 60-24. Capturing 2 win by pins were Cam Bennett, Brendan Kendall. Gaining single wins by descision were John Sweeney, Kevin Melanson, Brandon Levesque, Evan Manning. Wrestling also were Colin Oconnor, Jaiden Dupont, Ryan Kielma, Taylor Thyne, Tyler Linscott, Ryan Rice, David Muite, Nick Bodreau, Brian Toupin, Anthony Fiorentino. Our next meet is Thursday January 13th @ 5:30pm at Parker M/S in Chelmsford. All wrestler must be there by 5pm. January 15th we will host our own meet at Nashua H/S North 4pm. All varsity and jv wrestlers must be there @ 2:30pm. We will be Hosting Dracut, Billerica, Tewksbury.

EAGLES WIN STREAK COMES TO AN END

The Elm St wrestling team had a dual meet Thursday vs Hudson NH. This was a battle that was not decided until the final match of the night. The Eagles came up short and fell to the Hudson Colts 34-26. Capturing victories by pin: Kirsten Hammond, Cameron Bennett, Owen Mcnulty, Alex Almonte, David Muite. Winning by decision: Eric Gabriel, Cico Vargas, Bryce Brook, Brian Toupin, Alex Almonte. Wrestling well also were: Ben Lugo, Josh Barron, Ian Reed, Ryan Champagne, Matt Zucchi. Our next dual meet is Thursday January 13th @ Faigrounds M/S 7pm.

Elm St wrestlers send 8 wrestlers to the NASHUA MVC Wrestling Squad

This Sunday the Club played host for the MVC Wrestling League D/M. The Elm St Eagles filled 3 of the Varsity weight classes, while 5 others gained jv spots and got in alot of wrestling and valuable mat time. The team suffered its 2nd loss of the season. Salem came out strong and upset Nashua 49-30. Our next MVC meet is January 8th @ Tyngsboro H/S, 3 pm. Wrestling Varsity were: Cam Bennett - 89 lb. Win By Pin David Muite - 108 lb. Loss By Pin Brian Toupin - 114 lb. Loss By Pin Junior Varsity Members were: Kirsten Hammond- 80, Ben Lugo- 85, Josh Barron- 115, John Sweeney- 125, Ryan Champagne- 145. Nice job by all.

ELM ST EAGLES VARSITY SQUAD CONTINUES TO DOMINATE

This week the Eagles Wrestling Team went to Pelham M/S and Nashua Catholic JH for regular season Dual Meets. The Eagles first went up against Pelham where the Elm St varsity wrestlers kept to their winning ways coming home with a close victory 21-18. Gaining victories were: Cam Bennett, David Muite, Owen McNulty, John Sweeney. The key to this was 3-4 wins were by pins. Also showing well were Kirsten Hammond and Brian Toupin and Byrce Brook. The JV squad consisting of Alex Almonte, Ryan Champagne, Josh Barron, Cico Vargas, Ben Lugo wrestled well but came up on the short side. The JV kids contiue to show improvement and will have their day in the spot light. The Wrestling Eagles also traveled to Nashua Catholic for a real show down. The Varsity members continued to improve their record to 4-0 on the season with a 28-19 win and 14-0 over the past 2 seasons. Earning victories were Cam Bennett (2-0),Owen McNulty (2-0), John sweeney, Bryce Brook. Wrestling also were Kirsten Hammond, David Muite,Brian Toupin. For the JV wrestlers were Ben Lugo, Cico Vargas, Josh Barron, Ryan Champagne, Alex Almonte, Matt Zucchi.

With the school vacation upon us we must remind our wrestlers to condition and practice their moves each day. Now is also the perfect time to ensure all of their gear is clean and germ free. ELM ST. & MVC WRESTLERS

This past weekend we had 2 events in which Elm St had particapation in. First was our MVC Elite Wrestling Team. On Friday the Team traveled to N. Andover for the opening Kick Off Tourney. Nashua is the 2 Time Defending Regular Season and 2 Time Defending Tournament Champions. The team has gone undefeated in all of its regular season Dual Meets and Championship Tourneys 2 years running. Friday night we met a tough N. Andover team and all good things must come to an end. The Nashua team was finally defeated after hanging tough but fell short in the end. Elm St wrestler Cam Bennett won his match by a pin, upping his MVC record to an amazing 19-3 over 2+ years. Also wrestling was David Muite who came up on the short side, but battled the entire match. Congratulations MVC WRESTLERS. Other current MVC wrestlers include John Sweeney, Brian Toupin. Elm St had 1 wrestler travel to Bow Nh for the Manchester YMCA Holiday Youth Tournament. The Nashua Gate City Youth Team wrestled real well in this highly competitive Tourney. Cameron Bennett was the sole Elm St wrestler to make the trip. Cam went 3-0 for the day (not giving up any points) and brought home the 1st Place medal, and wall banner. He won his first match by pin and then followed up with 2 consecutive shut outs, 5-0, 4-0. Congratulations Cameron.

The wrestling team this week is filled up with practice, Dual Meets and MVC info. Also there will be upcoming tourneys to sign up for. Please read the entire post. MANDATORY - ALL NEW ELM ST WRESTLERS... Orientation at the club will be on dec 28th @ 5:30. They will be handing out the club cards afterwards. If you went last year you do not have to attend agian, I will get your card to you. If you miss this date you will need to reschedule an orientation on your own. You will not recieve your club card until you fulfill this obligation. Chelmsford Youth Tourney - sign up deadline is 1/4/11 (no exceptions). Cost- $15, non refunable for no shows. When- 1/9/11 Time- 7 am sharp- ...this is only a half day tourney. Where- Chelmsford H/S, Chelmsford, Mass. Who- ALL Elm St wrestlers should attend. This is perfect for beginers as well. MONDAY- Practice 3-5 TUESDAY- Dual Meet @ Pelham. All Wrestlers. Depart at 3:15 sharp. WEDNESDAY- Dual Meet @ Nashua Catholic. All Wrestlers. Depart @ 3:15 sharp. no practice Thursday. Merry Christmas We have only 2 drivers (7 kids) so far for the Dual Meets. Please email me either yes or no if you could. We will have roughly 15-20 wrestlers to get to the D/Ms. I will email out the diections and addresses later. MVC WRESTLING- our next wrestle off is Dec 28th @ the Club. All interested please be there by 6:30 pm sharp. Practice will follow. Our next MVC D/M is Jan 2 @ the Club. ALL ELM ST WRESTLERS SHOULD ATTEND. We our hosting, so all who show up will get matches to wrestle in. We also need voluteers to help out with tables and concessions. All Wrestlers during the school vacation should come to the Club practice on Tuesday Dec 28th. We practice from 6:30-8:30 pm. We have the Manchester YMCA Holiday Tourney coming up on Sunday. Registration deadline is Tuesday the 14th. See me @ the Club. MVC WRESTLING LEAGUE - MVC wrestle offs Tuesday 6:30 pm @ the Club. FRIDAY night Kick - Off Tourney for the MVC. North Andover, MUST BE AT North Andover High School BY 5:30 pm.. Congratulations to the follow who went to the PJ Sora Tourney. There was alot of tough competition there and you stood tall. John Sweeney placed 3rd @ 130 lbs. Cam Bennett also placed 3rd @ a bumped weight 98 lbs to avoid having 2 team mates in the same class. Also wrestling well was Ben Lugo 88 lbs and Brian Toupin @ 111 lbs. Next week we have 2 Dual Meets where we will need drivers to get our kids there. 12/21 to Pelham, 12/22 to Nashua Catholic. This coming week we are back to the regular practice schedule and we will be working on areas of improvement noted from the past scrimmage and tri-meet. you have all the right moves and know what to do and when to do it you just need to remember the basics and ensure you are doing it right. Attention to details will be our focus thhis week. Keep conditioning when we are not practicing. All sixth graders, I am having an open mat scrimmage at the Club Sat 12/11 from 9-noon. you should all come to this. There will be other towns there. PJ SORA Tourney- If you signed up for this Tourney please be at the Londonderry H/S @ 7 am for weigh ins. Going are Bennett, Toupin, Sweeney, lugo MVC Wrestle offs- this coming Tuesday 12/14 we have wrestle offs for the MVC Traveling Team, 6:30 @ Club. Dont be late. The actual Tourney is Friday 12/17. The EAGLES Wrestling Team continued in their winning ways this week with solid victories over Merrimack and Hollis Brookline middle schools in a tri-meet yesturday. The Eagles posted a 37-27 victory over Merrimack, along with a 38-27 triumph over Hollis Brookline. Gaining victories were: Cam Bennett, Ben Lugo, David Muite, Bryce Brook, Brian Toupin, Josh Barron, John Sweeney, Owen McNulty, Alex Almonte, Matt Zucchi. The Eagles Wrestling Team is now entering the busy season with practices, dual meets and the start up of tournaments. Please pay close attention to the events section of the website site, there has been some changes and additions. If you have not yet sent in your Hoodie $$ ( 21.95) please send asap, I need to get the order in now. Also the Club form and $$ is due as well (25.00). All MVC hopefuls please plan on attending the Club practice on Tuesday 11/30 @ 6:30 pm for a pre weigh-in, there are some open spots on the roster and we need to get them filled. Some of the weight classes have vacancies and others only have 1 wrestler. The actual weigh in will be Sunday 12/5/10 @ 5pm Chelmsford PD. Remember the kids need to be conditioning every day when there isn't anything going on, especially since we just went through a long break. Practice what you have learned and keep practiceing what you know. We have an up-coming Tourney that I need to get the registration by Friday Dec 3. This is for experienced wrestlers only. With Thanksgiving upcoming we have a short week for wrestling.It will be up to you to continue conditioning through out the holiday. For those of you who have not handed in your Club forms and $ please do so asap. I need to get them in so we can issue your cards out. If you have an interest in the Eagles Hoodies submit that $ as well. The order needs to be placed asap so they will be ready before our first Dual Meet. All MVC wrestlers need to come to the Club on Nov 30th for a pre weigh-in, (mandatory). We need to ensure all weight classes are filled prior to the actual weigh-in. ELM STREET WRESTLING BEGINS THE 2010 SEASON THIS WEEK

Welcome back to another year of ELM STREET EAGLES WRESTLING. I look forward to another record setting season with all of you this year and with YOUR/OUR hard work and effort who knows what can be accomplished. I would like to welcome back our returning grapplers: Cameron B, Kirsten H, Remee P, David M, John S, Brian T, Bryce B. We have many new members to the club this year and after a few practices they will provide the extra strength in the gaps left behind by last years eight graders. Practice will be Mondays and Thursdays 3-5 pm in the small gym. Also just like last year you are all encouraged to attend the CLUB practices as well. Practices at the CLUB are Tuesdays and Fridays 6:30-8:30 pm. The most important thing you can do this year is HAVE FUN !!!!! It will make the season alot more enjoyable, the more fun it is, the more you will put into it, and in return the more you will GAIN from it. Come ready to PLAY HARD and LEARN. ELM ST GIRLS CAPTURE 1ST & 2ND AT NEW ENGLAND WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Today at Nashua Catholic M/S Elm St was represented by OLIVIA TOTH and KIRSTEN HAMMOND in the New England Womens Championship Touney. This day was all about the girls wrestling against their own and not having to bother with the boys. Kirsten who placed 2nd in her wieght class had a tough 1st match, but managed to comeback while pinning the rest of her opponenets on her way to an awesome finish. Olivia captured first place in her weight division. As well as capturing a gold medal she also wrestled in the High School division were she took home 5th place as well. In the H/S matches Olivia gained some valuable lessons on a higher caliber of wrestling. I commend both of you for your sports(wo)manship and dedication from what I saw today. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! Thank you for all the Elm St boys who were there cheering on our own girls. Nice job TEAM !! Also competing this weekend was Brian Toupin further up north in the Plymouth Invitational Tourney. Brian wrestled in the 101 lb class were he captured a 2nd place silver medal. Brian went out with the Club Team as the sole Elm St wrestler. He was undefeated and in the finals were he gave all he could but came up short.

ELM STREET WRESTLER 6th Grader - JOHN SWEENEY NEW ENGLAND CHAMPION AT 105 LBs

Sunday was the Youth New England Championship Tourney held in Lowell Ma. The ELM ST EAGLES sent 8 wrestlers, 1 in the 5-6 gr div. and 7 in the 7-8th gr div. In 5-6th the wrestling expertise of John Sweeney (3-0) proved to be too much for his opponenets as he was crowned the Champ of New England in the 105 lb class. All 3 of his wins were by pins. Also competing and recording wins in the hardware contention rounds were Wilson Pellot (4-2) getting a 3rd place bronze medal, Joshua Norman receiving 4th place, and Mike Small getting a 6th place medal. Also having a good day but eluding the medal rounds were Cam Bennett, David Muite, Dan Bresee, Chris Dube.

Elm St. M/S wrestlers went to Concord this weekend and VICTORY was the end result. All 8 wrestlers finished in the TOP 3 to advance to next weekends New England Finals in Lowell Ma. Each one of our kids were in the finals of their respective weight classes. They captured 2 individual Titles and 5 runner up bouts, along with a 3rd place finish. Nashua's ELM STREET EAGLES wrestled this Sunday at the 4th Annual Mark Thibault Tourney @ Nashua North High School. This event is held between the 4 Nashua Middle Schools in the Honor of Mark Thibault a former Nashua Wrestling Standout.. This years Tourney was the closest in its history with all 4 teams separated by only 20 points. Elm St was represented by 18 wrestlers of which 14 finished in the TOP 4 Places. The EAGLES wrestling team placed 6 of their 8 wrestlers in the medal round of todays State Tourney Finals in Goffstown. There were some very tough matches and for the most part the EAGLES came out on top. The wrestlers were divided into 2 groups, 5-6th grade and 7-8th grade. The EAGLES wrestling team had 14 grapplers go to Londonderry today to compete in the NH Regional Tourney. All 14 qualified for the NH State Tourney next weekend in Goffstown. We came home with 10 top four finishers and the remaining 4 placed high enough to go as well. Tonight was the pinacle of their efforts as the ELM STREET EAGLES WRESTLING TEAM finished their regular dual meet season with a victory over a tough Nashua Catholic team 36-35. This victory culminated a perfect record of 9-0 in dual meets for the 2009-2010 season. The Eagles will now go on to the Regional, State, Mark Thibault, New England Tourneys, and the Derry Rebel Classic to complete an eventful year. ELM STREET EAGLES HAVE A STRONG FINISH IN THE TRI-COUNTY TOURNEY

Today the EAGLES WRESTLING TEAM finished in 3rd place out of a twelve team Tri-County Tourney this weekend. The EAGLES captured 1st place in 5 out of their 6 bouts for the finals. This weekend was the busiest so far for the wrestling EAGLES of ELM STREET. On Saturday the squad split up between the Rundlett and Patriot Duals Tourneys. In Rundlett Chris Dube and Joshua Norman each gathered silver medals in there weight classes with 3-1 records. They each had tough matches along the way and proved to be dominant into the finals. Going to the Patriot Duals were Remee Perez, Cam Bennett, David Muite, Derek Lansil, Kyle Ducharme, John Sweeney, Alkim Dato, Dean Kennedy, Wilson Pellot, Dan Bresee. They took part in a 6 round Dual Meet Tourney were they had 6 matches in 6 hours. The EAGLES helped the NASHUA SQUAD capture a second place finish by beating Danvers, Salem, Plymouth, North Andover, North Attleboro, in the finals they came up short to Maine in a 40-35 loss. MVC TRAVELING TEAM RUNS WILD and CAPTURES ITS 2ND CONSECUTIVE UNDEFEATED SEASON AND WINS THE 2010 SEASON FINAL CHAMPIOSHIP !!!!! The ELM STREET EAGLES placed 5 starters on the Elite Nashua MVC squad for their final double dual meet this past Saturday held @ Nashua North H/S. Nashua faced off against a Billerica team first and kept the streak alive by beating them 68-9, only losing 2 matches along the way. In their 2nd match of the afternoon Dracut came to try and dethrone the Nashua grapplers in a last ditch effort as this was the last regular season match this season. Nashua being on their home mat had something to say about that as they went on to win this Dual against Dracut 69-16. With another season behind them they now have a 2 year 14-0 regular season record and are the defending 2009 Champions. Next weekend they defend their season Championship title in N. The gym was 'rockin' at Elm Street when the EAGLES hosted a tough Fairgrounds M/S in Dual Meet action. The Eagles wrestled their hearts out today in some very close matches - 2 O/T wins and 3 others won in the final seconds of the 3rd period. NASHUA remains undefeated in MVC League action

The NASHUA MVC TEAM kept its perfect record intact this weekend after winning their first match against a tough Chelmsford team 41-37, also beating Melrose 82-12 in their 2nd meet of the day. The Elm Street Eagles had 4 wrestlers contributing @ this meet with Kirsten hammond wrestling tough with both matches. Cam Bennett capturing 2 victories both by pins. John Sweeney recorded 2 victories in his bouts. Wilson pellot went 1-1 with a pin. Next weekend the MVC Team travels to Tyngsboro on Saturday to face off against Tyngsboro and Tewksbury. In JV action Dean Kennedy, Ian Dechene, Dan Bresee, Chris Dube, Mike Small, Joshua Norman all saw extra mat time with some matches against the other schools.

We are hosting this event and need all available help from the team and their parents. This will be High School type format and takes a lot of effort by ALL. The ELM STREET WRESTLING EAGLES hosted 2 other teams ia a Tri-meet and the gym was rockin for 2.5 hours of cheering and wrestling. Over all there were 68 individual matches involving 136 kids from Fairgrounds and Rundlett M/S. Thursday night the WRESTLING EAGLES opened their season opener with a victory 31-18 over a very tough Pelham M/S team. Each wrestler got to wrestle at least one match and a few took on a 2nd match. Whether it was a victory or defeat our kids took it all in stride and showed extreme SPIRIT and SPORTSMANSHIP. Practice Monday and Thursday 3-5 pm. Club clinic Saturday 9-11:30 am. ALL wrestling forms and $$ MUST be turned in asap, no later than Thursday 11/19. I need to submit a roster and without these forms you will not be rostered or allowed to wrestle. I am submitting the Hoodie order on Thursday 11/19. If you are getting one - get me your order and $$, remember I need to know what name you want on the sleeve. I was very glad to see all the wrestlers who went to the clinic at the Club. I know everyone who went learned some extra moves and had a good time. Remember you should be doing your exercise homework, you need to build up your strength and stamina. Any drills you have a hard time with should be practiced at home. We cant waste time at practice waiting for wrestlers to catch up in these areas. The Eagles Wrestling Team has started to settle in and get down to business. The boys and girls club clinics are sat 11/14 and sat 11/21. All newbies and any other wrestlers who would like some extra mat time and training should be attending these 2dates. After that the club offers tues and fri night wrestling. If you might be interested in the team hoodies please email me so I can get some idea of the totals. This is not placing an order just a rough head count. I will be ordering them hopefully by next Thursday 11/19. Remind the wrestlers they have homework in the conditioning dept each night. They should be doing 30 minutes of actual exersizing each day there isnt any wrestling. We have our 1st dual meet Thursday Dec 3rd, we will be needing any parents who can help with the shuttling of the wrestlers to Pelham. We will leave Elm St @ 3pm and will start wrestling @ 4pm. WELCOME ELM STREET WRESTLERS

I would like to congratulate all ELM STREET WRESTLERS who have joined this years team. With 2 practices under our belt there are many positives and a few areas for improvement. If you know of anyone who would like to still join please have them come to a practice asap as they will be loosing valuable time by waiting too long. Practices are Mondays and Thursdays in the small gym. If we get bumped our alt spot is the cafe. They will run from 3-5pm. Remember when you come to any wrestling event to come prepared and ready to go. ie properly dressed - shorts, t-shirt, sneakers. Jeans, zippers on clothing, street shoes, baggy clothing etc is not allowed or tolerated. I have updated the events section and put asterisks next to a few items. These are for the NEWBIES that we discussed at the parents meeting. Some are to watch and others are to wrestle if they wish. All wrestlers are expected to attend all practices and Dual Meets that occur during the week. On the weekends the events with asterisks are for all wrestles as well. Any of the tournements without * or ** are for the more experienced, however if you want to go you must let me know in advance as they are prepay. In closing for now please remember your homework- situps, pushups, squats, and practice what you have learned each day. Oh Yeah, I almost forget, think of the TEAM SONG, TEAM MOTTO. Hello to all, Wrestling sign ups and registration time is here. please go to Mr Fredricksons' office and fill out the wrestling form. The practices will be Mondays and Thursdays from 3pm to 5pm this year, with the 1st practice starting on Nov. 2nd at 3pm sharp in the cafeteria. Please be prompt and ready to go. There will be a parents meeting after thursdays practice Nov.5th to get any contact info and release forms. This will be a mandatory meeting for the parents as you will not be able to wrestle without their permission. Hi everyone. Hope you had a great summer! With a heavy heart I have to tell you that I will not be able to coach this year. My job has put some restrictions on my time and I am traveling alot more, so I will not be able to make the practices. However, the Elm Street Eagles have an excellent new coach this year; Herb Bennett. Herb has been a youth wrestling coach for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua for good number of years and has done an outstanding job. He is a great fit for Middle School wrestling and I am sure he will bring this team to new heights. Please welcome Herb as you did with me into his new position as Head Coach. I had an awesome time coaching all of you and hope to see you again at some of your tournaments, meets, and maybe a practice or two. Stay healthy and strong, and have a great season! Coach Ellwood

Off-season Summer Conditioning

Off-season summer conditioning is important for wrestling success. Even if you only have one year of wrestling experience under your belt, you know first-hand that physical strength and conditioning create a real competitive edge in this sport. Fred Daniels, one of the middle school "wrestling dads", is a certified Health/Fitness Instructor and fitness director with a Master's degree in Exercise Science from Brooklyn College. He operates the Center for Physical Therapy and Exercise. He has put together a FREE, no-strings-whatsoever-attached off-season conditioning program for middle school wrestlers and he will be making a presentation/demonstration of the program, free of charge, Friday evening, June 12, at 6:30 pm at the Nashua Catholic Jr. High gymnasium. This is not a business promotion for Mr. Daniels. His son is a middle school wrestler, and he has taken a great interest in our cooperative, interscholastic city-wide program. This is a terrific opportunity to learn from someone who knows what he's talking about, and do something to elevate the level at which you train and compete. There will also have literature available about summer wrestling camps. You're all invited. If you need a ride, just get in touch with your coach. We'll get you there, and we'll get you home.
